RETREAT: Soaking in the Elements

Slip into a weekend of deep retreat in the High Sierras, where you'll revitalize your practice and rebalance your body and being. Soak up silky hot-spring pools, vast alpine prairies, delicious and healthy meals, dynamic five-element yoga classes, space for reflection and inquiry, and the chance to connect with amazing people from all over.
Yoga sessions will utilize the practices of mindful movement along with the philosophy of Chinese Medicine to more deeply connect with ourselves and the earth. In keeping with the cycles of yin and yang, morning classes will open, uplift, and energize while evening classes will nourish, restore, and invite deep insight. Each class will focus on one of the elements so that we can attune to the cycles of our inner and outer worlds and come into balance with the spring season of growth and expansion. Britt and Colette will offer the support of five-element philosophy, earth-based ritual, chanting and resonant sound, hands-on assists, and self-massage techniques to invite ease and integrate the practice.

Elemental Yin Yoga Series with Healing Touch
Located: The pad studios (1694 Union street, sf ca)
In this 5-week series, Britt and Colette will guide you through a yin yoga practice that cycles through the five elements of Chinese Medicine. Each week we’ll focus on one of the elements—water, wood, fire, earth, and metal—and emphasize a gentle opening of its corresponding meridians, or energetic pathways. Each element is part of the whole, with its own personality and physiology and emotion, so by the end of the series we’ll have accessed the entire network of the human system.
Class will start with a more active warmup to break up residual stagnation from the day and encouraging a smooth flow of qi (or prana, or life force energy). Then we’ll wind down into a yin practice, where we’ll set each posture with the support of props and hold for several minutes. Throughout the yin sequence, Britt and Colette will offer hands-on assists to support alignment and ease. We’ll also offer musings and meditations from Chinese philosophy to invite inquiry, balance, and deep rest. This class series is open to all levels and is appropriate for anyone looking to slow down, relax, and breathe!
Cost: $30 a drop-in or $125 for a 5 Class Card
Classes CAN be taken individually, but keep in mind that each class will focus on a different element, therefore different meridians and parts of the body. We will try to stretch the entire body in each class so that everyone leaves feeling balanced.

Weekly Pilates Reformer Classes
Located: The pad studios (1694 Union street, sf ca)
Breathe, move, sweat and transform in The Pad’s signature full-body, machine based Pilates workout set to upbeat, contemporary music. Britt will take you through a series of exercises that will challenge both beginners and advanced students. Expect to feel stronger, longer and more toned. For classes with fewer than four students, Chair & Tower may be incorporated into class. Classes have no more than 6 clients, ensuring specialized attention for all.
*This class is all-levels but is not appropriate for pre/postnatal clients.
